Highway bridge

Post-tensioned concrete highway bridge, with a 500m radius, modelled with brick elements.

Contour plot of stresses defined in a User Coordinate System (UCS). This gives the fibre stresses in a direction tangential to the curvature of the bridge. This stress is relevant because it is analogous to the bending moment in the direction of the reinforcement.

Strand7 provides a mechanism for extracting bending moments from brick models. Once a slice is selected, Strand7 will integrate the normal stress on the slice thereby providing the total force transmitted across the section, together with the total bending moments.
