Riveted doubler repair plate

An important aspect of the analysis of riveted doubler plates is the distribution of shear force in the rivets. The Strand7 mesh of the doubler plate models all the rivets using beam elements. It also includes the effect of offset neutral planes on the plates.
This type of problem requires the geometric nonlinear solver to correctly account for the offset neutral planes of the plates - the offset generates a moment whose effect cannot be modelled using a linear analysis. The stress patterns clearly identify the location of the rivets.
The graphing feature in Strand7 displays the distribution of shear force on the rivets directly on the model.
An XY plot of rivet shear force can also be produced for inclusion in reports.
