Investigating results in Strand7

Result contours Strand7 helps to ensure that you detect all stress concentrations. You can contour stress that has been: averaged; not averaged; averaged only across elements with the same material; and averaged only across elements in the same plane (for plate elements).

The figure below clearly shows that the stresses near the intersection of the two plates are not averaged. On each plate, stresses are extrapolated and averaged only with elements that lie on their respective planes.
