Strand7 Snippets
Snippet #7: SUMMARY/Property Edit Mode |
Introduction | ||
Beam, plate and brick element property data is usually defined and edited via VISUAL/Global/Properties: data is edited on the dialog shown below, typically one property set at a time.
|
||
SUMMARY/Property | ||
A companion to Global/Properties is SUMMARY/Property. Here, element property data is presented in tabular format on a grid; navigation is via the element tabs (at the top of the grid) and the data selection options (on the left hand side). The grid facilitates the checking of property data with features such as column sorting, searching and copy functionality. Additionally, the printing options produce customised property summaries for inclusion in reports.
A lesser known feature of SUMMARY/Property is that property data can be edited here. To switch the grid to edit mode, the padlock icon indicated below is used. Once in edit mode, data can be edited directly on the grid, enabling easy modification of single or multiple properties. |
||
Additional information | ||
Although VISUAL/Global/Properties is designed primarily for working on one property set at a time, there are some operations that can be performed on multiple properties at once: this includes importing data from the material and section libraries, and property deletion (i.e., select multiple properties via Ctrl+Click and/or Shift+Click, and apply the operation on all the selected properties at once).
The padlock icon shown on the SUMMARY/Property toolbar can be found on other tabs, windows and dialogs in the Strand7 interface. The padlock enables data to be locked to prevent inadvertent modification, and to be unlocked when changes are to be made. |
