Selection Functions: Select Plate Edges

Description

Selects plate edges, and/or nodes on plate edges, for a series of plate elements that are topologically interconnected to a specified plate/edge.

The edges must be free edges (i.e., connected only to a single plate element). Edges that are shared by two or more plates cannot be selected by this function.

Adjacent edges are selected as long as the angle between them satisfies the set tolerance.

Dialog

Plate and Edge

Plate and edge numbers of a master plate element from which the selection operation starts.

These can be retrieved by clicking a plate element in the model window, or by typing the numbers directly into the edit boxes on the dialog.

Tol (deg)

The upper threshold of the angle between any two connected plate edges; edges within the angular tolerance are considered as continuous and are therefore selected.

In the following plate mesh, the plate and edge indicated is used as the Plate/Edge on the dialog.

With a Tol of 0 deg, only the two adjacent collinear edges are selected:

With a Tol of 35 deg, the following edges are selected:

With with a Tol of 90 deg, the entire perimeter is selected:

Select plate edges

If set, plate element edges are selected.

Select nodes on plate edges

If set, nodes on plate element edges are selected.
