ANSYS uses NSEL to select a subset of nodes. New nodes are added to the existing set.ESEL

ANSYS uses CMSEL to select a subset of components and assemblies. New components and assemblies are added to the existing set.

ANSYS uses CM to assign nodes or elements to a component.

ANSYS uses CMGRP to assign components and assemblies to an assembly.

ANSYS uses CMEDIT to edit existing assemblies.

ANSYS uses CMDELE to delete a component or assembly.

ANSYS uses CMBLOCK to assign nodes or elements to a component. CMBLOCK is a CDB format specific command.

Entity Sets, Components and Assemblies

Straus7 stores the node sets, element sets, components and assemblies for subsequent use by attribute assignment commands.

Group and Sub-Group Creation

Straus7 creates groups and sub-groups according to the component and assembly definitions. Elements are assigned to the sub-groups corresponding to each component. Groups and sub-groups are defined under the default group "ANSYS Import 'Filename.Ext'". ANSYS allows a component or assembly to belong to more than one assembly. Straus7 allows a child group to belong to one parent group only, and assumes that a component or assembly belongs to the last specified assembly in which the component or assembly is defined.
