STAAD File: Beam Section Shapes
Description
The majority of standard sections available in STAAD are available in Straus7. For any sections that are not available, it is possible to create a Straus7 custom beam cross section library (BSL) to define the missing information. This library can then be included as a search database in the Default Country Type section of the STAAD import dialog. Custom beam cross section libraries are created in Utility: Make Library.
Straus7 supports the following STAAD cross section types:
- I-Beam
- WideFlange
- Angles
- Lipped Channels
- Tees
- Prismatic
- Rectangular shapes
- Concrete tees
- Concrete tees tapered (average taper is used)
- Rectangular hollows
- Circular hollows
- Channels with stiff flanges
- Concrete Ells
- Concrete Ells tapered (average taper is used)
- Solid rounds
- Trapezoids
- Double angles
- Double channels
All other sections are not supported.
User-provided cross section tables are not supported.
Tapered sections are not fully supported. Instead, the average depth of the section is used for a constant depth beam.
The ASSIGN profile command is not supported.
Imported STAAD cable members are interpreted as cutoff bars in Straus7 with zero compressive strength and an optional pre tension.
