Plate Attributes: Local Axis Angle
Description
Assigns the angle of the local axis system to selected plate elements.
A positive angle rotates the plate's local x and y axes in the right-hand sense about the local +z axis. A negative angle rotates in the opposite direction.
Local axis angle attributes are independent of load and freedom cases.
Dialog
Value
The local axis angle, angle increment or scaling factor.
The point of reference of this angle is distinctly different when executing Add or Apply:
-
Add
Adjusts the direction of the axes with reference to the plate's current orientation.
-
Apply
Sets the direction of the axes with reference to the plate's default orientation.
A value of 0.0 resets the default, and is the same as executing the Delete function.
Common Controls
Units
Degrees.
Common Uses
There are several situations where the orientation of the local axis system becomes important.
These include:
- Definition of pre-load, face shear stress and plate RC attributes.
- Orientation of orthotropic, laminates and other non-isotropic materials.
- Extraction of local result quantities.
