Where do I download the Strand7 Student Version?
After submitting a completed application form, successful applicants will receive an email from us with a download link and a Student Access Code.
Do I require Internet access to run the Strand7 Student Version?
Yes. Access is provided through a licence server managed by us, so you must be connected to the Internet to use the service.
Can I specify when I want my licence to commence?
No. Your access period commences on the day that your application is processed. This is typically 1 to 3 business days after we receive your completed application form; however this may take longer depending on how long it takes to verify that you are a student.
Why can't I save my information in my application form?
Acrobat Reader XI or later is required to save form data in PDF files. If you are using a previous version of Acrobat Reader you will need to update your Acrobat Reader. You can obtain the latest Acrobat Reader from here.
It has been a week since I submitted my application form. Why haven't I heard anything?
You will usually hear back from us within 3 business days of submitting your completed application form, as long as we have obtained the necessary confirmation from your lecturer/educator. Please check your spam filter for our reply, and failing that, resend your email to student@strand7.com.
Can I use the Strand7 Student Version for non-educational purposes?
No. The Strand7 Student Version is provided strictly for completing course work only.
Why do I have to pay to use the Strand7 Student Version?
Your payment helps cover administrative costs associated with processing your licence application and maintaining our student licence servers.
Can I use my Student Access Code on multiple computers?
Yes. A student licence is bound to a single computer but you can transfer your licence from one computer to another by returning your licence to the Strand7 licence server. To return your licence, close any open models and then click the Return Licence button on the Licence Information dialog. You may then use your Student Access Code on another computer.
I can't start Strand7 as it says that my Student Access Code has been assigned to a different computer.
Your student licence is associated with a particular computer. Changes to a computer's hardware or operating system can result in the computer's identity changing, and this may invalidate your licence. If you have turned off your wireless network adapter then turn it on and try again. If you are still having problems, send an email to student@strand7.com and request that your licence be reset.
Where do I go for technical assistance?
The Strand7 Student Version does not come with any technical support. However, the installation provides access to context sensitive Online Help, which contains examples and reference material (press F1 on your keyboard when running Strand7 to access the Online Help).
How do I download a Strand7 Webnote?
The student version of Strand7 does not include access to the Strand7 Webnotes library. If there is a particular Webnote you require, you may request it by sending an email to student@strand7.com.
What are the recommended computer specifications?
Strand7 will run on computers capable of running 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11, as long as the graphics card supports Direct X 11.1 or above.
Will Strand7 run on my Mac computer?
Strand7 is a Windows application, so it is not designed to run on the Mac OS. However, it is possible to run it on the latest Mac Operating System by using Boot Camp (dual boot).
