ST7-1.40.70.15 Engine Head Gasket Analysis
The head gasket in an internal combustion engine is a critical engine component. It seals the high pressures of the combustion chamber between the head and block. Typical automotive head gaskets are multi-layered steel gaskets which are clamped by the force of the head bolts. We can use contact elements to determine how much combustion pressure a given design can take before the gasket separates, allowing leakage.
