ST7-R3.10.10.4 Inertia Relief
Inertia Relief Analysis is used whenever the applied loads are to be reacted by the inertia of the structure rather than by restrained nodes. It is a quasi-static analysis. For example, a structure such as a floating ship may be modelled without any restrained nodes. In the steady state case, the buoyancy pressure balances the weight (inertia force due to gravity).
