Attributes: Evaluate Attribute Formulas

Description

Re-evaluates the attribute values for attributes with stored formulas in the selected load cases and entities.

The operation has no effect on attributes that do not have stored formulas.

Stored formulas are described in Attribute Common Controls.

Common Uses

Formulas often refer to a position on an element or node, with reference to a UCS. The attribute is evaluated using the formulas when it is first assigned based on the coordinates of the nodes or element. If the element (or UCS) is moved, the value may no longer match the position and/or the new UCS. If the attribute is required to be consistent with the current coordinates and/or UCS of the element, the formulas need to be re-evaluated.

An example of this would be normal pressure applied on a floating structure. The pressure is defined using a formula that references a UCS representing the water line. If the vertical position of the structure relative to the water line changes, the attributes will need to be re-evaluated to ensure the correct pressure is applied.
