Plate Attributes: Edge Shear Stress

Description

Assigns shear stress to selected edges of plate elements.

The shear stress acts in the plane of the plate in the direction along the edge. A positive shear stress acts in the direction that follows the local node numbering order on the plate. For example, a positive edge shear on edge 2 of a plate acts in the direction of nodes 2 to 3.

The magnitude of the resultant force is equal to shear stress × edge length × membrane (or equivalent) thickness.

Shear stress attributes are load case dependent.
