Mesh Tools: Intersect Beams and Links
Description
Splits selected beams and links at intersections with intersecting entities.
Intersecting entities can be beams, links, plate edges and brick edges. These are used as intersection lines to split intersecting beams and links.
All beam types may be split as a result of an intersection. In each case, the intersection point is on the straight line segment between the beam's nodes.
Only 2-node links may be split, although all link types can be used as intersecting entities.
Dialog
Max Gap
Intersections are only established if the minimum normal distance ( in the figure below) between the beam or link and an intersecting entity is less than the Max Gap.
If an intersection is found, the beam or link is split at the point closest to the intersecting entity.
Min Angle
Minimum angle between beam or link and the intersecting entity required for an intersection to be established.
A small angle will avoid finding intersections for beams/links that are nearly parallel to the intersecting entity.
Split Beams
If set, selected beams are split at intersection points.
Split Links
If set, selected links are split at intersection points.
Consider edge mid-side nodes
If set, intersections are computed with consideration to mid-side nodes on plate and brick edges. If not set, intersections are computed using only the corner nodes.
