Scale Tools: by UCS
Description
Shrinks or enlarges selected entities using three scaling factors and a reference coordinate system.
Dialog
Coordinate System
The coordinate system (UCS) in which the scaling factors are defined.
Scaling Factors
Multipliers to scale the coordinates of selected entities in the selected coordinate system.
All three ordinates can be scaled for Cartesian and cylindrical coordinate systems. For spherical and toroidal systems only the radius can be scaled.
Although values can be entered as formulas (see Strand7 Interface: Entering Numeric Data and Formulas), variables such as length (L), area (A) or volume (V) are not supported.
Scale about...
Specifies a reference point for the scaling operation. This location of this point is not changed by the scaling operation.
-
Middle
The centre of the bounding box around the selected entities, with the bounding box aligned with the global coordinate system.
-
Origin
The origin of the selected coordinate system.
-
Point
A reference point specified by the user.
Angular centre
When scaling in cylindrical coordinates, the tool modifies the theta ordinates by scaling the angular difference between the ordinate and an angular reference point, the Angular centre.
For example, if the angular centre is set as 125.0 deg while the θ scaling factor is set as 2.0, a node with θ coordinate of 130.0 deg will move to a new θ position of (130.0 - 125.0)×2.0+125.0 = 135.0 deg. If the angular centre is set to 0.0 deg then the new θ position will be at 260.0 deg.
