Edge Attributes: Transverse Shear Stress
Description
Assigns transverse shear stress to selected geometry edges.
When the geometry is automeshed, plates created along the geometry edge will inherit the edge normal shear stress attribute (see Plate Attributes: Edge Transverse Shear Stress).
The shear stress acts on the edge, in the direction of the local z axis of the plate. A positive shear stress acts in the +z direction and a negative pressure acts in the -z direction.
The magnitude of the resultant force is equal to shear stress × edge length × membrane (or equivalent) thickness.
Shear stress attributes are load case dependent.
