Spring Stiffness
-
Axial
Stiffness in the axial direction of the spring.
Units are Force/Length (e.g., N/mm, lbf/in).
-
Lateral
Stiffness in any direction perpendicular to the axis of the spring.
Units are Force/Length (e.g., N/mm, lbf/in).
-
Torsion
Rotational stiffness about the axis of the spring.
Units are Force×Length/Angle (e.g., N·mm/rad, lbf·in/rad).
Damper
-
Axial
Viscous damping in the axial direction of the damper.
Units are Force×Time/Length (e.g., N·s/mm, lbf·s/in)
-
Lateral
Viscous damping in any direction perpendicular to the axis of the damper.
Units are Force×Time/Length (e.g., N·s/mm, lbf·s/in).
-
Torsion
Viscous rotational damping about the axis of the damper.
Units are Force×Length×Time/Angle (e.g., N·mm·s/rad, lbf·in·s/rad).
Mass
Total mass of the spring. Note that this is a mass, not a mass density.
Units are Mass (e.g., kg, lb).
