File Formats: IGES File
Description
IGES (Initial Graphics Exchange Specification) is an ANSI standard. Geometry is defined mathematically using analytic and parametric surfaces and curves, such as Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS). Finite element entities in IGES files are not supported by the Strand7 IGES importer. The Strand7 IGES import function supports IGES revision 5.3 and earlier. Only text format IGES files can be imported. The Strand7 IGES export module exports only geometry (no finite element data is exported).

Units
IGES files with defined units are scaled to the current units of the Strand7 model on import. If the Strand7 model uses no units, geometry data is imported unscaled.
Import/Export Log File Viewer
If warnings or errors are encountered during import or export, a log file is generated and displayed by the View Log File: Log File Viewer. The log file (with extension .LOG) is saved in the same folder as the IGES file; if the folder is a read-only location, the log file is not generated and Strand7 issues a warning message.
