Beam Attributes: String Group

Description

Assigns a string group to selected beam elements of type truss.

When placed in the same string group, truss elements connected in series are free to slide over intermediate nodes, whether these nodes are fully restrained or attached to other elements.

The axial force in grouped truss elements will be the same for all truss elements connected in the same string group.

Conceptually this attribute enables the modelling of a continuous rope or string passing through frictionless pulleys.

Truss elements assigned to a string group have zero mass; the mass density in the property set is ignored.

String group attributes are independent of load and freedom cases.

String group ID.

Selecting New String Group creates a new string group ID upon executing Apply.

To add elements to an existing string group, select the required group from the list of current string groups before executing Apply.
