Align Tools: Plate RC Directions to UCS

Description

Aligns concrete reinforcement layers of selected plate elements with an axis of the specified coordinate system.

This tool is only applicable to plates with concrete reinforcement attributes applied.

Dialog

Coordinate System

The coordinate system (UCS) in which the alignment reference axis is defined.

Align...

Reinforcement layers to be aligned.

Can be either layers 1,3 or layers 2,4 as defined in the Plate RC layout.

With...

Reference axis of the specified UCS to which the reinforcement layers are aligned.

Tol

An angle in degrees.

When aligning the directions of the layers, the element will be considered for alignment as long as the angle between the reference axis and the plane of the plate is less than this value.

This tolerance can be used to exclude plate elements that are perpendicular, or nearly perpendicular, to the reference axis. In the perpendicular case, the directions of the layers cannot be aligned with the reference axis. This is because the alignment of the layers is achieved by rotating them axes about the plate's z axis.

The perpendicular case corresponds to a Tol angle of 90 degrees. The default value of 89 degrees allows most practical situations to be aligned.
