Beam Attributes: Heat Transfer Convection Coefficient
Description
Assigns a convection coefficient to selected ends of beam elements.
Applicable only to heat transfer analysis.
Models uniform heat flow via convection through the cross section of the beam end to or from an ambient environment. The attribute is paired with a beam end convection ambient temperature attribute, which together define the heat flow rate.
The coefficient can be scaled as a function of time and/or temperature.
Convection coefficient attributes are load case dependent.

Value
Convection coefficient at the beam end.
Factor vs Time table
A table that scales the coefficient as a function of time.
Applicable only to the transient heat solver.
Factor vs Temperature table
A table that scales the coefficient as a function of temperature.
Applicable only to nonlinear heat transfer analysis.

Units
Energy/(Time×Length2×Temperature) (e.g., J/(s.m2.K), Btu(s.in2.F)).
