Face Attributes: Heat Transfer Convection Ambient Temperature
Description
Assigns a convection ambient temperature to selected faces.
When the geometry is automeshed, plates created on the face will inherit the convection ambient temperature attribute (see Plate Attributes: Face Convection Ambient Temperature).
Models uniform heat flow via convection through the surface to or from an ambient environment. The attribute is paired with a convection coefficient attribute, which together define the heat flow rate.
Different ambient temperatures can be defined on the -z and +z surfaces.
The ambient temperature can be scaled as a function of time.
Convection ambient temperature attributes are load case dependent.
Dialog
Value
Convection ambient temperature on the surface.
Temperature vs Time table
A table that varies the ambient temperature as a function of time.
Applicable only to the transient heat solver.
Surface
The surface on which the attribute is applied.
-
+z
Ambient temperature is on the +z surface.
-
-z
Ambient temperature is on the -z surface.
-
Both
Ambient temperature is on both surfaces.
