Copy Tools: by Projection to Plane
Description
Copies selected nodes, beams, links and plates by projecting them onto a target plane in a specified direction.
Projection is undertaken on a node by node basis and the result depends on both the source and how the target direction is defined, as described in Tools: Project to Plane.
Dialog
Plane
The plane to which the selected entities are projected.
-
XY
The global XY plane.
-
YZ
The global YZ plane.
-
ZX
The global ZX plane.
-
3 Points
A target plane defined by three points.
P1
Single point positioning the global XY, YZ or ZX plane. If the point is zero, the plane passes through the origin of the coordinate system.
P1 / P2 / P3
Three points defining a target plane. Applicable only when 3 Points is selected under Plane. All three points must be non-zero.
Direction
Projection direction. Both positive and negative directions are considered for each case.
-
Source (Plate) Normal
Direction is defined by the average normal of all plate elements connected to the source node.
Only applicable to nodes on plate elements. If the source node does not have plates attached, the direction is undefined and no projection is applied.
-
Target Normal
Direction is normal the target plane, passing through the source node.
-
Conical
Direction is defined by the vector from the Apex point to the source node.
-
Parallel P1 / P2
Direction is defined by the vector from point P1 to point P2.
